Your gift supports our youngest community members

Great Rivers United Way funds and facilitates a variety of programs that support our youngest community members.

In 2019, 99% of young children served by our funded programs achieved developmental milestones. This was possible, in part, thanks to the 51 early childhood staff who received training funded by Great Rivers United Way. In total, 1,306 families received services that supported caregivers and encouraged positive parenting.

Our funded programs for elementary, middle, and high schoolers served 5,152 youth in 2019. While side-lined due to the pandemic, Great Rivers United Way’s Read to Success program is back and looking to help even more children improve their literacy this year – in 2019, 113 third-grade students participated. In addition to academic supports, 93% of youth served developed soft skills, and 25 gained employment. Every high school-aged participant, including four teenage mothers, graduated on time.
